Traveling with a Stroller

If you need a stroller and/or car seat for your trip to Colorado, reach out to CDP. It is very likely that a volunteer has a stroller and/or car seat that will work for your needs.

If you would prefer to bring your own stroller and/or car seat you may check one stroller and one car seat per child for free for your trip. You can either check the stroller and car seat at the ticket counter, where you would drop off any checked luggage, or you can check your stroller and car seat at your gate.

You may decide to check your stroller and/or car seat at the gate, which means you can use your stroller and/or car seat to walk through the airport. If you choose to do this, you will need to see the gate agent, or the person who will be making announcements at your gate, for a tag. Tell them you have a stroller and/or car seats you wish to gate check. They will ask for your boarding pass to make sure they put the correct name on the tag for your items. You will tag each item that you are gate-checking. Then, you will walk with your tagged items down the jetway when it is time to board. You will collapse your stroller and leave it and any other gate-checked items (like a car seat) at the bend in the jetway before you step onto the plane. If you’re unsure where that is, you can ask the flight attendant or gate agent. Once your plane has landed and you have gotten off the plane, you will need to wait at about the same spot in the jetway to pick up your items. Typically, gate-checked strollers and car seats get unloaded pretty quickly.

If you decide to check your stroller and/or car seat at the ticket counter, the airline will treat it like a checked bag. The ticket agent will help you tag your items and then they will send your items along with the other checked luggage. You will then pick up your stroller and/or car seat at your final destination at the baggage claim. Many airports, Denver International Airport included, have special spots next to the luggage carousels where you will pick up car seats and strollers. This is to protect the car seats and strollers from getting squished by heavier baggage. Once you find the carousel for your flight, ask an airport worker nearby where you can find car seats and strollers.
